Scene 1

Three Brothers, Three Ideas

Nino the pig wears a straw hat and carries straw, Luca wears a neckerchief and carries wooden planks, and Tito wears overalls and pushes a wheelbarrow of bricks; a thin black border surrounds the white drawing.

Once upon a time, there were three little pig brothers: Nino, Luca and Tito. Nino wore a straw hat, Luca a neckerchief, and Tito a pair of overalls.

One morning, they set off to find a place for their own homes. They chose a meadow near the woods. “Let’s build close to each other,” said Tito. “Then we can visit every day!”

Nino found some light, golden straw. “My house will be ready in no time!” Luca gathered wooden planks. “I’ll make mine from wood,” he said.

Tito chose bricks and pushed them along in a wheelbarrow. “Mine will take longer,” he said, “but I want it to be sturdy.” The three brothers got to work.

Scene 2

Straw, Wood and Bricks

Nino stands by his finished straw house, Luca rests by his wooden house, and Tito carefully works on his brick house with a trowel; the coloring page has a white background and a thin black frame.

Nino tied the straw into bundles and built a little house. By lunchtime, it was finished. He put on his hat and went out to play.

Luca joined his planks together. Tap, tap, tap! Soon his wooden house was ready, too. He sat by the door to rest.

Tito worked slowly. He spread mortar and laid the bricks in neat rows. “Come and play!” called his brothers. “I’ll join you when I’m finished,” he replied.

At last, the mortar had set and Tito checked the walls and the door. His house felt firm. That evening, the three brothers waved goodnight from their three little homes.

Scene 3

A Great Big Puff

The wolf blows toward a fallen straw house while Nino, still wearing his straw hat, runs to the wooden house where Luca welcomes him at the door; a thin black frame surrounds the white illustration.

The next morning, a wolf came out of the woods. He stopped at Nino’s straw house and knocked. “Little pig, little pig, let me come in!”

Nino stayed inside. “No, no! This door stays closed!” The wolf puffed out his cheeks. “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!”

He blew one enormous puff. Whoosh! The light straw flew apart, and the little house fell into a heap.

Nino ran straight to Luca’s wooden house. Luca opened the door for his brother, then closed it quickly. “You’re safe here,” he said. Nino held on to his hat and caught his breath.

Scene 4

Off to Tito’s House!

The wolf blows down the wooden house; Nino and Luca run together toward Tito, who waits in the doorway of his sturdy brick house, all within a thin black page border.

The wolf followed Nino to the wooden house. Knock, knock! “Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!”

“No, no! This door stays closed!” answered the brothers. “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!” said the wolf.

He took a deep breath and blew. Whoosh! The wooden walls shook. With another puff, the planks tumbled apart.

Nino and Luca hurried to Tito’s brick house. Tito saw them coming and opened his door. “Come in, both of you!” he called. In a moment, the three brothers were together inside.

Scene 5

The House That Stayed Standing

Outside the brick house, the wolf puffs toward its closed arched door while all three pigs look out together through the round window; a thin black frame surrounds the white coloring page.

Tito closed the sturdy door. Soon the wolf was outside. “Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!” he called.

“No, no! This door stays closed!” replied all three brothers. The wolf filled his chest. “Then I’ll huff, and I’ll puff, and I’ll blow your house down!”

He huffed once. He puffed twice. He blew a third time, as hard as he could. Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! But the brick house did not move.

Inside, the brothers stayed together. The walls held firm and the door stayed shut. Nino and Luca smiled at Tito. All his careful work had given them a safe place to stay.

Scene 6

Building Together

The three little pigs work together beside the intact brick house: Nino carries bricks, Luca passes one to Tito, and Tito builds a new low brick wall with a trowel; white background and thin black border.

At last, the wolf sat down, out of breath. “That’s enough puffing for today,” he sighed. He walked back into the woods, and the pigs watched until he was gone.

“Thank you for opening your door,” said Nino. “And for taking so much care,” added Luca. Tito smiled. “I’m glad we’re all together.”

The next day, they began to build sturdy new homes for Nino and Luca. Nino carried bricks, Luca passed them along, and Tito showed them how to lay each row.

This time, nobody hurried off to play. They worked, rested and helped one another. When the new houses were ready, the three brothers celebrated: three strong homes and a happy family.

The End.

“Care and patience make things stronger. Helping one another makes us stronger, too.”
