About this activity
Fold a standing backdrop and two tiny animal actors to create a tabletop theatre without glue. Let the lion ask the owl for help. Add Boo or the lion puppet for a new scene.
How to do this activity
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait, using Fit to page with all four borders visible. Use light card if your printer supports it, coloring pencils, child scissors and a glue stick. An adult helps with cutting. Color before cutting; leave glue areas uncolored.
- Cut the outside of the large backdrop and the two small actor rectangles. Keep the scenery and animal drawings inside; do not cut a window in the stage.
- Fold both side panels towards you along the vertical dashed lines. Stand the backdrop on its long bottom edge, with the sides forming a shallow U.
- Fold each animal rectangle in half, blank sides together. Open slightly to stand it like a small tent in front of the scenery. No glue is needed.
Tips for parents and teachers
- The top row is a key, not a piece to assemble: thick outside lines are cut lines, dashed lines are folds and diagonal hatching marks glue. Thin lines inside the pieces are decorations. The page border is not part of the model.
- Let the lion ask the owl for help. Add Boo or the lion puppet for a new scene.
