About this activity
Arrange a nose cone, body, two fins and flame into a rocket collage on another sheet. Choose a destination and invent the first thing your astronaut finds there.
How to do this activity
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait, using Fit to page with all four borders visible. Use light card if your printer supports it, coloring pencils, child scissors and a glue stick. An adult helps with cutting. Color before cutting; leave glue areas uncolored.
- Cut out all five outer shapes. Leave the window and the small flame lines inside their pieces. Take a separate sheet for the background.
- Try the layout without glue: triangle above the body, a fin on each lower side, and flame underneath. Slide the fins and flame slightly behind the body.
- Glue the flame and fins to the background first, then the body and nose cone. Draw stars around the finished rocket.
Tips for parents and teachers
- The top row is a key, not a piece to assemble: thick outside lines are cut lines, dashed lines are folds and diagonal hatching marks glue. Thin lines inside the pieces are decorations. The page border is not part of the model.
- Choose a destination and invent the first thing your astronaut finds there.
