About this activity
Fold four walls and a floor, then add a pitched roof to make a small paper house. Let the roof dry before moving the house. Add the slot-together tree to invent a village.
How to do this activity
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait, using Fit to page with all four borders visible. Use light card if your printer supports it, coloring pencils, child scissors and a glue stick. An adult helps with cutting. Color before cutting; leave glue areas uncolored.
- Cut the wall-and-floor net and the separate roof. Keep all tabs attached. Fold dashed lines only; the thin lines below the triangular gables are decorations, not folds.
- Wrap the four walls into a square with the windows outside. Glue the end tab behind the free wall edge. Fold the floor inward and glue its three tabs inside the walls.
- Fold the roof in half with its blank sides facing inward. Bend the four sloping gable tabs inward, apply glue and rest the roof on them with its crease joining the two gable peaks.
Tips for parents and teachers
- The top row is a key, not a piece to assemble: thick outside lines are cut lines, dashed lines are folds and diagonal hatching marks glue. Thin lines inside the pieces are decorations. The page border is not part of the model.
- Let the roof dry before moving the house. Add the slot-together tree to invent a village.
