About this activity
Fold a six-sided picture cube, roll it and use the picture on top to continue a story. Take turns rolling gently. Add one sentence about the picture facing up; there is no winning score.
How to do this activity
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait, using Fit to page with all four borders visible. Use light card if your printer supports it, coloring pencils, child scissors and a glue stick. An adult helps with cutting. Color before cutting; leave glue areas uncolored.
- Cut around the whole net, keeping all seven hatched tabs attached. Fold every dashed edge towards the blank side so the pictures stay outside.
- Wrap the row of four pictures into a square tube. Glue the tab beside the face behind the free edge of the house panel.
- Fold the three tabs on the moon panel inward and glue them inside the tube to close one end. Repeat with the star panel to close the other end. Press gently and let it dry.
Tips for parents and teachers
- The top row is a key, not a piece to assemble: thick outside lines are cut lines, dashed lines are folds and diagonal hatching marks glue. Thin lines inside the pieces are decorations. The page border is not part of the model.
- Take turns rolling gently. Add one sentence about the picture facing up; there is no winning score.
