About this activity
Make one fold to turn an owl picture into a standing place card for a story picnic. Give each toy at a pretend picnic a place card of its own.
How to do this activity
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait, using Fit to page with all four borders visible. Use light card if your printer supports it, coloring pencils, child scissors and a glue stick. An adult helps with cutting. Color before cutting; leave glue areas uncolored.
- Write a name or draw a small symbol on the line below the owl, then cut only the outer rectangle.
- Fold the rectangle in half along the dashed line, blank sides together, so both decorated sides remain outside.
- Open the fold slightly and stand the two long free edges on the table like a tent. No glue is needed.
Tips for parents and teachers
- The top row is a key, not a piece to assemble: thick outside lines are cut lines, dashed lines are folds and diagonal hatching marks glue. Thin lines inside the pieces are decorations. The page border is not part of the model.
- Give each toy at a pretend picnic a place card of its own.
