About this activity
Join a starry crown front and extension strips into a paper crown sized to fit. Invent a celebration for kindness, a story character or the end of a craft session.
How to do this activity
- Print on A4 or Letter in portrait, using Fit to page with all four borders visible. Use light card if your printer supports it, coloring pencils, child scissors and a glue stick. An adult helps with cutting. Color before cutting; leave glue areas uncolored.
- Cut the crown front and all three strips. The thin stars and circles stay inside the pieces.
- Glue a hatched strip end behind one side of the crown. Extend the band by overlapping more hatched ends as needed; use all three strips for a larger crown.
- An adult can hold the band loosely around the head to mark the fit. Remove it, trim excess paper and glue the last end behind the other side of the crown. Let it dry before wearing.
Tips for parents and teachers
- The top row is a key, not a piece to assemble: thick outside lines are cut lines, dashed lines are folds and diagonal hatching marks glue. Thin lines inside the pieces are decorations. The page border is not part of the model.
